The Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI) was established on June 28, 1973 under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Together with the decision of meeting the combat aircraft requirements of the Turkish Air Force with F-16s, TAI was founded as a Turkish and U.S. partnership in 1984 for a period of 25 years with the aim of realizing the manufacture, systems integration and flight tests of F-16 that would be delivered to the Turkish Air Force. TAI was restructured in 2005, before the 25-year period came to an end, with the acquisition of the foreign shares by Turkish shareholders. Along with this restructuring, TAI and TUSAŞ have merged under the roof of the Turkish Aviation and Aerospace Industry A.Ş. broadening its activities and has become Turkey's center of technology in design, development, modernization, manufacturing, integration and life cycle support of integrated aerospace systems. Today, with 45.45% of the shares owned by the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM), TUSAŞ continues to carry out projects that are vital to our country.
Up until today, TUSAŞ has been conducting a number of important projects such as the ATAK Helicopter, the HÜRKUŞ Aircraft, the ANKA UAV and the GÖKTÜRK Satellite, and aside from these projects, continues to carry out many modernization projects.
As one of the world's leading companies in its field, TUSAŞ produces and exports many products through international collaboration and aside from its services to our country's defense industry, continues to contribute to the economy of our country with its exports.
