3 Prof. Dr. İsmail DEMİR President of Defence Industries We are proud to share with our friends and allies all over the world our indigenous products produced by the Turkish Defence Industry which has been developed and matured particularly in recent years on the path set out 34 years ago with the main mission of improving the modern defence industry and the modernisation of the Turkish Armed Forces. The Turkish defence industry has now transformed into a structure which ensures the participation of over 1,000 enterprises, various SMEs, research institutes, and universities, and which mobilizes the entire brain and production power of Turkey. Along with its annually growing production power and export capacity, the Turkish defence industry has also become the biggest R&D and technology investor in Turkey with its expenditure on product and technology development. As a result of all this dedicated work and effort, Turkish Defence Industry has reached a position where it modernises the Turkish Armed Forces and Security Forces timely with its indigenous products and shares this very competence with friendly and allied countries through various collaborations. We know that there are many determinants of international defence industry cooperation such as political relations, economic relations, and export restrictions. Within this scope, the Turkish defence industry with developed defence capabilities is seeking sustained strategic partnerships and different cooperation models all over the world. We are generating cooperation strategies that are tailored to each country and encourage the Turkish defence industry for international cooperationmodels which include joint venture companies, joint R&D activities, co-development programmes, partnership for third country markets, and so on. With this catalogue, we would like to introduce our defence products and inform you that our defence industry is ready to cooperate with our friends and allies all over the world. PROLOGUE
