ABOUT THE PROJECT

With the GÖKTÜRK Project, it is aimed to procure a satellite system to obtain high resolution images for military intelligence purposes from anywhere in the world, and at the same time, produce images in many civilian areas of activity such as controlling forest areas, monitoring illegal construction, detecting the damage in the shortest time after a natural disaster, detecting crop harvest, and generating geographical maps data in line with the technology transfer and joint development principles.

Achievements obtained with the GÖKTÜRK Project are: Establishing a modern and effective method for monitoring the area and territorial waters surrounding Turkey; creating a domestic industrialization model in the space-satellite field, acquiring system and subsystem level design capability and establishing an assembly, integration and testing center.

The GÖKTÜRK Satellite was placed into orbit with a Vega launch vehicle in French Guiana on 5th December 2016 and has begun to serve with the images obtained.
